How CardioMEMS HF System Remote PA Pressure Monitoring Works

The CardioMEMS™ HF System provides remote hemodynamic monitoring of pulmonary artery (PA) pressures using a small sensor. Permanently implanted in the distal pulmonary artery via a safe right heart catheterization procedure, the sensor measures changes in PA pressure. These changes are a surrogate measure for fluid retention in the lungs caused by worsening heart failure.

Patient-initiated sensor readings are wirelessly transmitted to a secure remote monitoring platform for clinicians to access and review. Directly monitoring PA pressure not only alerts you if a patient’s heart failure is worsening, it also allows you to intervene earlier, adjusting medication or making other treatment changes, often before a patient experiences any symptoms.

Get Daily PA Pressure Trends Remotely with CardioMEMS HF System

The CardioMEMS HF System streamlines outpatient monitoring by combining an implantable sensor measuring PA pressures with secure, cloud-based data review for clinicians.

PA Sensor

The CardioMEMS™ PA Sensor is implanted into the patient's pulmonary artery during a right heart catheterization procedure. It is about the size of a paperclip and provides PA pressure measurements to help manage heart failure.

Delivery Catheter

During implant, the Delivery Catheter is advanced over a guidewire to the implant site. Once in position, the Sensor is deployed into the pulmonary artery.

Hospital System

The CardioMEMS™ Hospital System is used during implant and when patients are in the hospital to complete the implant and pairing process, as well as take subsequent PAP readings. After gathering patient and PAP data, it connects to Merlin.net PCN with a secure, direct data transmission. Its intuitive interface helps streamline operation and workflow so you can focus more of your time on patient care.
