Merlin@home Transmitter

Using the Merlin@home Transmitter to Collect and Send Data

The Merlin@home Transmitter collects data from your implanted cardiac device and sends it to a secure website for review by your doctor. Depending on the type of Merlin@home Transmitter you have, it may support automatic collection and transmission of data from your implanted cardiac device. All Merlin@home Transmitter models support unscheduled device checks and manual sessions.

It is important to keep your Transmitter powered on and its connectivity accessory connected so the Transmitter can receive occasional software updates, conduct automatic and unscheduled device checks, and perform scheduled and manual sessions. If the Transmitter connectivity is not maintained, your doctor will not be able to receive data about your implanted cardiac device and the Transmitter will not receive updated software. In addition, your Transmitter may no longer be able to transmit or receive information if its software version is out of date.

Automatic Daily Device Checks (Models EX1150 and EX1150W)

When used as intended, the Merlin@home Transmitter automatically checks your implanted cardiac device every day for heart events your doctor wants to know about and, if an important heart event is detected, the Transmitter will silently send the data to a secure website for your doctor's review. These automatic daily device checks most commonly occur at night, while you sleep. After setting up your Merlin@home transmitter, keep it connected at all times and place it on a nightstand or other flat surface close to where you sleep. If you’re not near the Transmitter when it tries to check your device at night, it will silently retry the device check throughout the day.

Unscheduled Device Checks (All models)

When allowed by your doctor, your Merlin@home Transmitter can perform an unscheduled device check. If an important heart event is detected by the Transmitter during the unscheduled device check, it will send the data to a secure website for review by your doctor. See the Merlin@home Transmitter User’s Manual for more information.

Scheduled Sessions (Models EX1150 and EX1150W)

The Merlin@home Transmitter can collect and send information from your implanted cardiac device based on a schedule set by your doctor. On dates selected by your doctor, the Transmitter will gather data from your implanted cardiac device during its automatic daily check and send it to a secure website for review by your doctor.

Manual Sessions (All models)

When allowed by your doctor, your Merlin@home Transmitter can manually collect and send information from your implanted cardiac device to a secure website for review by your doctor. Perform a manual session only if your doctor instructs you to do so. See the Merlin@home Transmitter Start Up Guide for more information.
