Lights and icons on your Merlin@home transmitter

Here you can find information about the lights and icons for your transmitter.

Power light

The power light stays on all the time, assuming connectivity to power. The transmitter does not have a power switch, to turn it off the power adapter must be disconnected from the electrical outlet.

Note: Power outages cause the transmitter to lose power but won’t require a reset. The transmitter does not have a backup battery. Without power, the transmitter will not function.

Read Icon

Indicates that the transmitter is attempting to locate and read the implanted device, either during initial pairing, or a subsequent reading. The Read icon lights up when the transmitter reads your implant.

Tower/Send Icon

Indicates that the transmitter is attempting to connect with the doctor or clinic (Merlin.net™ Patient Care network), either during initial pairing, or a subsequent connection. This can take up to 15 minutes. When a successful connection is complete, the stars stay lit for ~ 3 minutes, then shut off if no command is given. After Stars turn off, only the Power LED stays lit all the time (other icons and LEDs are off).

Stars Icon

Indicates that the transmitter is ready and awaiting a task, either from standby mode or due to completion of a task.

Progress Lights/LEDs

During setup, the progress lights move from left to right 5 progress lights indicate the status of a process. If flashing sequentially left to right, the transmitter is attempting to perform a task. If all 5 progress lights are flashing at the same time, the transmitter was unsuccessful in its attempt at performing the task.

Start Button

Press the start button to begin manual functions such as initial set up or sending data to your doctor or clinic. Pressing the start button will also silence error messages.

Notification Speaker

The speaker will notify you if there is an issue with the transmitter’s ability to transmit data to your doctor or clinic or when performing manual functions such as sending data to your doctor’s office. The speaker does not allow you to communicate to your doctor or clinic and only serves to notify you if a connection issue has occurred.
