Post-Market Study Evaluating Assert-IQ™ ICM Performance Confirms Gold Standard Level AF Detection with No Loss in Sensitivity After AI Integration

Abbott Cardiac Rythm Management | March 31, 2026

Holter monitoring has long served as the established reference standard for evaluating atrial fibrillation (AF). A new post‑market study, which is the first to directly compare an AI‑enabled Insertable Cardiac Monitor (ICM) with expert‑annotated Holter monitoring,1–8 used this benchmark to assess the performance of the Assert‑IQ™ ICM.

The study demonstrated that Assert‑IQ ICM maintained high sensitivity in detecting AF while incorporating AI algorithms designed to enhance accuracy.

In this multicenter study, 151 patients with Assert‑IQ ICM underwent up to seven days of Holter monitoring. Assert‑IQ ICM identified all 39 patients with AF and detected 1,004 true AF episodes, maintaining high episode‑level sensitivity even with the AI algorithms applied.

This post-market analysis confirms that Assert-IQ ICM delivers accurate AF detection and reliable AF burden quantification for long-term monitoring, while its AI algorithm reduces false positives without sacrificing sensitivity.

Overall Performance of Assert-IQ ICMs with AI

Patient Sensitivity

Assert-IQ ICMs with AI demonstrate 100% sensitivity for AF with no delay in diagnosis1

Episode-Based Sensitivity

Proven 99.4% sensitivity in detecting AF episodes vs Holter, with AI retaining all true episodes1

Duration Sensitivity

Assert-IQ ICMs with AI delivers 93.0% duration sensitivity1

AI Algorithms Deliver More Clinically-Actionable Data to Allow You to Focus on True Patient Care

The Assert-IQ ICM is now the only ICM system to combine AI, the longest-lasting Bluetooth® ICM, and IQ Insights to optimize patient management across arrhythmia types.1-13
