Insertable Cardiac Monitoring Results in Higher Rates of Atrial Fibrillation Diagnosis and Oral Anticoagulation Prescription after Ischaemic Stroke (2023)

Real-world clinical evidence from a U.S. nationwide study shows that insertable cardiac monitoring results in higher rates of atrial fibrillation (AF) diagnosis and oral anticoagulation implementation compared to external cardiac monitoring after cryptogenic stroke (CS). Patients with ICMs were almost 3 times more likely to be diagnosed with AF and to be prescribed an OAC compared to patients who only received an ECM.1

Novel Algorithms Improve Arrhythmia Detection Accuracy in Insertable Cardiac Monitors (2023)

This article from the Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, is a retrospective analysis using episodes triggered by real‐world ICM devices to develop and evaluate new discrimination algorithms that further reduce false detections of atrial fibrillation (AF), pause, and tachycardia episodes in Abbott's next-generation ICM system. The evaluation showed that newly developed algorithms substantially reduced false episodes while having minimal impact on true ones, as compared to the predicate Abbott ICM algorithms. Implementation of the enhanced algorithms in an ICM system may lead to improved detection accuracy, device clinic efficiency, and longer battery longevity.2
