Remote monitoring is changing our understanding of AF and has raised questions about the optimal medical treatment. This case study shows how remote monitoring can be useful in following the course of AF and in managing treatment.

This paper focuses on systems and techniques used in various practices to successfully implement wireless remote monitoring of pacemakers and the resultant efficiencies in clinical operations.

This study takes a look at the use of Ventricular Intrinsic Preference (VIP) Technology in a pacemaker cohort. The study suggests 1) Individuals who have “normal” left ventricular systolic function at the time of pacemaker implantation would benefit by utilizing the VIP feature, and 2) The use of cardiac resynchronization may confer a greater benefit when a high degree of right ventricular pacing is clinically anticipated.
