Heartmate 3 LVAD Surgical Training

Building and Running a VAD Program from Indication to Bedside

This course lays the foundations of a VAD program, from selecting the right patient to implanting the HeartMate 3™ LVAD and managing the patient. The importance of a team approach will be discussed, together with the principles of structuring and organizing a VAD program.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Structure their own programs and carry out implants
  • Select suitable LVAD candidates
  • Handle the apical cuff and apply the right suturing technique
  • Manage the patient in the pre-, per- and post-operative phases
  • Organize a VAD program and manage referrals
  • Handle and manage clinical complications in outpatients

Surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, VAD coordinators, perfusionists (the complete VAD team)

Comprehensive (participants have a basic understanding of LVAD treatment)
