How It Works

TactiCath™ Ablation Catheter, Sensor Enabled™ Technology Animation

Discover how the TactiCath Ablation Catheter, Sensor Enabled works together with the TactiSys™ Quartz equipment to analyze and reveal the exact magnitude and orientation of contact force.

System components

  • TactiSys™ Quartz Equipment
  • TactCath™ Contact Force Ablation Catheter, Sensor Enabled
  • EnSite™ Precision Cardiac Mapping System

Measure contact force through white light Fabry-Pérot interferometry

Using light interferometry, the TactiCath Contact Force Ablation Catheter, Sensor Enabled makes an interference analysis to compute both magnitude and orientation of contact force.

  • Cavity made of two semi-reflective mirrors in parallel, with air between
  • Light emitted by the TactiSys Quartz equipment and reflected back and forth many times throughout the cavity
  • Titanium body deforms when a force is applied on the tip of the catheter, on order of nanometers, which impacts the light reflected back

Designed for seamless integration

The intuitive display of contact force data allows for enhanced workflow. The EnSite contact force module shows the CF data on the EnSite Precision™ Cardiac Mapping System, providing a single integrated display.
